Chief Executive Officer at United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship
The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) seeks a dynamic, strategic, and mission-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization in advancing entrepreneurship education. The CEO will be responsible for the overall leadership, financial sustainability, and strategic direction of USASBE, ensuring the organization continues to be an inclusive community that advances entrepreneurship education through bold teaching, scholarship, and practice.
This position is fully remote but requires extensive travel. The salary range is commensurate with experience. Travel stipend will be provided for official travel.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
Proven experience in executive leadership roles, preferably within an academic, nonprofit, or membership-based organization.
Strong track record of progressive results in fundraising, including securing sponsorships, grants, and philanthropic contributions.
Expertise in financial management, budgeting, and organizational sustainability.
Demonstrated ability to manage staff and foster a collaborative, results-oriented culture.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a wide range of stakeholders.
Preferred:
Experience of managing a membership organization
Experience negotiating and managing contracts, partnerships, and vendor relationships.
Experience as a USASBE member leader or board member
Passion for entrepreneurship education and the mission of USASBE
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising & Financial Management
Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, securing financial support through grants, sponsorships, partnerships, and member contributions.
Manage the organization's financial health, including budgeting, financial forecasting, and overseeing fiscal compliance.
Identify and cultivate relationships with donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
Portfolio management and oversight of accounts receivable and payable
Leadership & Management
Provide visionary leadership to USASBE, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture that aligns with the organization’s mission.
Oversee and support staff, contractors, and volunteers, ensuring a high-performance team that meets organizational goals.
Develop and execute strategic initiatives that advance entrepreneurship education and enhance member engagement.
Represent USASBE at national and international forums, advocating for entrepreneurship education and engaging with key stakeholders.
Organizational Oversight & Governance
Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set and implement strategic priorities.
Ensure operational efficiency and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Maintain open communication with the board, providing regular updates on organizational performance, financial status, and strategic initiatives.
Build and maintain constructive, trust-based relationships with the Board to support organizational goals.
Promote a culture of collaboration and mutual respect in working with the Board to advance organizational priorities.
Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with universities, corporations, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to further USASBE’s mission.
Negotiate and manage contracts, ensuring they align with the organization's goals and financial objectives.
Develop mutually beneficial partnerships that enhance the impact and reach of USASBE’s programs and initiatives.
Event Management
Oversee the planning, execution, and growth of USASBE’s annual conference and other key events.
Ensure events provide high-quality professional development, networking opportunities, and thought leadership for members.
Manage event budgets, sponsorships, and logistics to maximize attendance and impact.
