Director of Data Analytics at Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina
The Director of Data Analytics will drive data-driven decision-making and innovation across the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading high-performing teams of data scientists, business analysts, and project managers to deliver impactful insights and solutions. With expertise in data analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling, the Director of Data Analytics will define and execute the data analytics strategy, leveraging advanced tools and techniques to extract actionable insights from complex datasets. As a key leader, this individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth, optimize processes, and enhance internal-customer experiences through data-driven initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive data analytics strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
2. Ensure successful execution of data analytics projects by establishing clear objectives, timelines, and deliverables, and managing resources, budgets, and risks effectively.
3. Develop (with the Director of Information Technologies) a Data Governance Plan.
4. Provides steering, coaching, and mentoring to a team of data scientists, business analysts, and project managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
5. Collaborate with key stakeholders across departments to understand business requirements, identify opportunities for leveraging data analytics, and communicate insights effectively.
6. Oversee the design and development of analytics solutions, including data models, algorithms, dashboards, and reports, to support decision-making and drive business outcomes.
7. Advises on various collaboration environments and alternatives and helps define the current best practices for technical delivery.
8. Define KPIs and metrics to measure the effectiveness of data analytics initiatives, monitor performance, and optimize processes for continuous improvement.
9. Communicate complex technical concepts and analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner through presentations, reports, and visualizations.
10. Stay current with emerging technologies and tools in data analytics, evaluate their potential impact on the organization, and oversee their implementation and integration into existing systems.
11. Recommend professional development paths for technical staff.
12. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team, encouraging skill enhancement, knowledge sharing, and staying abreast of industry trends and best practices.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
· Must believe in the mission and model the values of the organization.
· Minimum ten years of progressive information management solutions and end-to-end development life-cycle support and SDLC processes.
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science or relevant field from an accredited college or university; Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
· Established experience delivering information management solutions to large numbers of end users.
· Demonstrated understanding of enterprise data warehouse, big data, Business Insights (BI) & Analytics, content management and data management.
· Proactive self-starter who takes initiative in developing strategies and plans working collaboratively with cross functional partners.
· Demonstrated effective team leadership skills, communication skills, and relationship building skills working with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
· Experience with two or more vendors in any of the following areas including; SQL Server, Oracle 11g, MySQL, SQL Data Warehouse Appliance, Oracle Exadata, Netezza, Greenplum, Vertica, Teradata, Aster Data, SAP HANA, Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, Spotfire, Tableau, Qlikview, R, Oracle Endeca, Oracle OBIEE, SAP Business Objects, SAS and other Analytics Vendors with BI components.
MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Minimum eight years leading a team including architects, engineers, quality assurance, and operations professionals.
