POSITION DUTIES
General Purpose: The Manager of Strategic Partnerships is responsible for providing high-quality support to a Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) to build cross-sector partnerships and oversee the Maryland Council on Innovation and Impact – enabling the Deputy Chief of Staff to effectively oversee this portfolio of work.
Responsibilities:
Working closely with DCOS to develop, coordinate, and implement public-private partnerships that advance the Moore-Miller Administration’s priorities, such as child poverty and economic mobility
Managing the engagement of the Maryland Council on Innovation and Impact, such as meeting cadence, agendas, and Council-wide communications
Developing processes to ensure agency implementation of cross-sector partnerships and track the impact of various initiatives
Leading on the planning, coordination, and implementation of special projects, initiatives, briefs, and events that fall within the DCOS’s portfolio
Leading on the preparation of briefing or meeting materials for the DCOS and other senior administration officials
Working closely with policy advisors and the DCOS’s executive assistant to ensure coordination across the office
Collaborating with the Governor’s front office on items of high priority across the portfolio
Coordinating with others in the Governor’s Office, such as the Governor’s Office for Children, and across state agencies to ensure DCOS alignment with Governor’s priorities
Building and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders both within and outside state government, including other government officials, agency heads, staff members, and external partners
Assisting with questions, needs, and concerns – both internally and externally – by handling, delegating, or escalating for DCOS attention
Other duties and projects as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supporting the work of one or more senior level executives
Experience in or understanding of philanthropic sector, both in Maryland and nationally
Excellent planning and organizational skills and ability to multitask
Experience project managing and meeting multiple deadlines – both short- and long-term – prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively
Identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement in the deputies' office operations and implementing appropriate solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A “self-starter” motivated by the achievement of the organization, the team, and themselves – in that order
Comfortable with incomplete information and/or unknowns
A team player, with the ability to organize, assign, and track completion of work by direct and indirect team members
Stellar attention to detail
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
