Managing Ecological Economist at The Lifescape Project (UK or remote)
The Lifescape Project is a growing charity which undertakes projects that protect and restore wild landscapes, helping to provide a future for all life on earth. We focus on ambitious projects looking at new ways to solve complex environmental problems, bringing together a multi-disciplinary team of specialists across five disciplines: science, law, economics, technology and culture.
About the role
We’re pushing the boundaries of economics – challenging assumptions, interrogating market logic, and building innovative frameworks and financial mechanisms that support harmony between ecosystems and people.
We’re looking for someone who can lead technical work and help shape the direction of our economics projects by applying rigorous and boundary-pushing approaches to economic thinking and nature finance. Current projects include leveraging carbon finance with rural communities in Rwanda, working on forest biodiversity and carbon synergies as part of an EU Horizon project, and natural capital assessments linked to species restoration and rewilding.
The ideal candidate will bring the following experience and attributes:
A relevant degree (e.g. Ecological/Environmental Economics)
Experience managing skilled teams on ecological economics or nature finance projects
Proven project management skills with strong research, report-writing, and analytical skills
Familiarity with environmental and ecological economics approaches
Experience working with diverse stakeholders
Excellent communication skills
The ability to lead, collaborate and adapt
What we can offer you
You’ll join a friendly and close-knit team of ecologists, lawyers, social scientists and economists, all passionate about Lifescape's vision: a world rich in wild landscapes, providing a sustainable future for life on earth.
We also offer flexible working and a range of benefits, including 36 days’ annual leave (including public holidays), an annual Lifescape retreat and team meetings, full pension contributions, computing equipment, and staff development and remote working allowances.
