Marine Resource Economist at Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife

This permanent, full time position is with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Marine Resources Program, located in Newport, Oregon.
What you will do:
You will work collaboratively in a team environment to implement studies and investigate economic impacts of marine policy and regulations affecting coastal fishing communities, communities of interest, and communities of place. You will also perform quantitative analysis of marine fishing data and interpret the results to inform the department's resource management decisions, as well as conduct economic research on the impacts of marine reserve and protected area implementation on ocean users, identified communities of interest and place, and the general public.

What we are looking for:
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in economics or a related field and one year of experience doing economic research or econometric forecasting. An advanced degree in economics or a related field may substitute for the experience.
Desired Attributes:
• Performing economic research and/or econometric forecasting
• Advanced economics and statistics training
• Using statistical/quantitative analysis and software to summarize, analyze, and present data
• Experience working with natural resource economics
• Writing technical reports
• Creating presentations and speaking in public

The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%.
